Whenever I observed documentaries or images of erupting volcanoes, I was fascinated by this spectacle that is both destructive and creative at once. This telluric force that has shaped our world for millennia, destroying to rebuild better, represents for me the very essence of the life cycle. The volcanic landscape, with its striking contrasts between fire and rock, perfectly embodies the wild and untamable beauty of our planet.
The genesis of this work dates back to a journey I made to Iceland, where I was able to witness up close the meeting between ice and fire. That moment when incandescent lava flows between mountains, creating new territories, seemed to me the perfect metaphor for our existence: even in the darkest and most chaotic moments, a new path finds its way. I wanted to capture this primordial energy in my landscape painting, to convey that sensation of witnessing a moment of geological creation, as if the viewer could hear the deep rumble of the earth and feel the heat emanating from the canvas.
