A fragment of ancient Rome suspended between past and present. This painting of the Roman Forum blends millennia-old vestiges with a geometric sky in a harmony of deep burgundy that instantly warms the space.

A fragment of ancient Rome suspended between past and present. This painting of the Roman Forum blends millennia-old vestiges with a geometric sky in a harmony of deep burgundy that instantly warms the space.

The visual

The composition is organised in two distinct registers. In the lower part, a detailed view of the Roman Forum unfolds its soaring bell tower, triumphal arches and the Colosseum in the background, all painted in terracotta and patinated cream tones. Dark cypresses punctuate the scene, adding relief between the ruins and the stone staircases. In the upper part, the sky transforms into a geometric patchwork of burgundy, brown and ivory blocks, evoking a textured abstract fresco like cracked marble. This break between figuration and abstraction gives the whole an unexpected depth. The light, diffuse and warm, unifies the two parts despite their different treatment. The painterly grain recalls ancient wall frescoes, reinforcing the historical atmosphere of the work.

Tips for integrating it into your interior

  • ❯Opt for an ivory or light taupe wall to let the burgundy of the canvas stand out.
  • ❯Favor dark wood or patinated leather furniture to extend the antique atmosphere.
  • ❯Hang it in a living room or office, rooms where its vertical format and its history find their place.
  • ❯Pair it with terracotta cushions and gold lighting fixtures for a successful color harmony.
  • ❯Create a Mediterranean ambiance by adding a few terracotta objects nearby.

Which walls

Our fixings suit the most common interior walls. The adhesive plate sticks to the back of the artwork, never to the wall. It is the hook that gets screwed in, with the wall plugs provided.

  • Solid walls — Concrete, brick, breeze block, solid plaster: the wall plugs supplied are suitable.
  • Hollow walls — Plasterboard, drywall: allow for an expansion plug, not supplied.
  • Hard walls — Tile or stone: drill using a bit suited to the material.
