A piercing gaze, two enormous erect ears, and vibrant fur composed of thousands of touches of color: this painting captures theintensity of a Devon Rex cat with an almost hypnotic precision. The work seizes this suspended moment where the animal stares into the lens, frozen in an explosion of pointillist colors.
The portrait is dominated by a warm ochre that structures the feline's fur and ears, contrasted by a background composed of thousands of points in pastel blue and touches of lavender. The pointillist technique, inherited from neo-impressionism, decomposes each area into small juxtaposed touches that recompose the material from a distance. The green eyes, circled with fine lines, concentrate all the light of the composition and fix the viewer with a disturbing intensity. The large pink and purple ears stand out clearly from the striped coat, creating a striking play of textures. The white, fine and scattered whiskers bring a touch of lightness to the muzzle. The whole thing plays on a contrast between warmth and coolness, between the golden coat and the bluish background almost shimmering. This work evokes as much the scientific precision of pointillism as the spontaneity of a fleeting animal moment captured on the spot.
