One of the strengths of this Georges Braque inspired painting lies in its visual balance, which combines abstraction and clarity, simplicity and sophistication. I wanted the whole thing to remain harmonious and fluid, while creating subtle contrasts between shapes and space. The musician and his guitar form a stable central composition, where the curves and black blocks are firmly anchored to the canvas. But this balance is reinforced by the fine, light lines that swirl around, bringing an airy dynamism to the whole. This alternation between full shapes and airy tracings gives a feeling of suspended movement, as if time had stopped in the middle of a musical accord. Abstraction does not detract from the readability of the scene, quite the contrary. The eye immediately identifies a musician, a guitar, a gesture unfolding. This clarity rests on a mastered composition, where each element naturally finds its place. It is this balance between abstraction and figuration that gives all its strength to this work, conferring an ageless visual power.
