Everything about this artwork

The harmony of this painting rests on a carefully constructed balance between the sailboat and its environment. From the first brushstrokes, my intention was to establish an implicit symmetry, a dialogue between sky and water, between shadow and light. The lunar body, positioned slightly off-center, acts as a natural focal point, immediately drawing the eye before guiding it toward the silhouette of the boat. I composed this scene according to a gentle perspective, where every element seems suspended, as in a waking dream. The reflection of the boat on the water creates a subtle visual symmetry, a mirror effect that reinforces the idea of a timeless and soothing scene. This interplay of horizontal and vertical lines firmly anchors the composition, allowing the eye to move freely without disturbance. The balance between dark and light tones also contributes to this harmony. The deep shadow areas of the sky contrast with the softness of moonlight on the sea, enhancing the depth and relief of the Claude Joseph Vernet painting. By playing with these effects of contrast and perspective, I sought to create a work where each element naturally finds its place, offering the viewer a sense of calm and escape.
